The Lough Boora Santa Dash is an annual festive 5km run held at Lough Boora Discovery Park, designed as a fun, family‑friendly event that brings the community together in the run‑up to Christmas.

Event Highlights

• The Santa Dash typically takes place in early December, with the 2025 event held on December 7th at 11am.
  The event marked its 10th year, offering a fast, flat, traffic‑free 5km route suitable for runners of all ages.
• The event is known for its scenic off‑road route through the Lough Boora Parklands, making for an enjoyable and accessible race experience.

Family Activities

• Many years also include a 1km family walk, making the occasion ideal for children and families.
• Santa arrives on his sleigh, greeting children and adding to the festive atmosphere

 Charity Support

• The 2025 Santa Dash raised funds for Offaly Hospice and Sumiahneas AS Class at St Brendan’s CS Birr, emphasising the community‑driven spirit of the event.
• Local businesses, volunteers, and music acts also contribute to creating a vibrant, celebratory environment.

Organisers

• The event is organised by the Lough Boora Running Group in partnership with Ferbane Athletics Club, who also support registration and coordination.
